We recently lost everything in iPhoto but have sinced managed to re-install everything that was 'lost'. However it is all a bit jumbled and we have ended up with 2 or 3 copies of each photo in various parts of the library. Any easy way to instruct iPhoto to delete duplicate copies of the same photo?

Hi mb
There is a program that should do this (I haven't used it, but it has great reviews and best of all it's free!). It's called "iphoto diet". When iPhoto applies touch-ups or effects to a photo (for example if you turn convert colour to B&W or get rid of redeye), it saves an original copy of the photo in case you want to revert to it one day. Very handy but can take up some space, naturally.
The link for iphoto diet is http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~fuhrer/personal/freestuff/iphotodiet/
(if you have trouble with the link, just google "iphoto diet"). From the description on the page, it looks like just the tool you are after, as it sorts out duplicates present in iphoto regardless of how they got there.
Good luck - if it works well, please let me know?
Cheers
BTD
