Raising Rents

I vaguely remember seeing something about a HK law where you can dispute the increase of rental fees. You can get 12 months at the same rent while you are disputing the new increase in rent.


As our landlord is trying to raise our rent %25, I would like to know if there is anything that we can do.

However I think old hand is correct - you can no longer dispute rent hikes

sadly, 25% after two years is actually not that high...


our landlord will be renting our former place at 35%-40% higher

Yes, transitional termination notice (ttn) period no longer applies unless contract signed (and not renegotiated) before the date Mercedes mentioned... they are free to do whatever they want now...
