A good friend is going through a divorce. Are flowers comforting, condescending or upsetting?

I think that if you accompany it with a card saying that you're thinking of her at this time and the flowers are to brighten her day, that it should be fine.

I'm going through a divorce....I'd love a friend to give me flowers....or a bottle of champagne, party poppers, streamers and a feather boa...!I guess the circumstances of the divorce would be important to know!!
