Thanks Joshmomm, that is a very helpful list.

We love 'Goodnight Moon' and 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and I still can't get through 'Guess How Much I Love You' without tearing up...

We all love Julia Donaldson's books; The Gruffalo, The Gruffalso's Child, Monkey Puzzle and Sharing a Shell. The Smartest Giant in Town is our least favourite of the collection.

More rhyming books both my kids love:-

The lion who wanted to love

Dinosaurs galore

Giraffes can't dance

Rumble in the Jungle

Lift the flap books

Spot series

Dear Zoo

Pop up and rhyming books by Bolton and Tagg

When I'm big

In a spin

Home sweet home

I think often when they are very young it is more about you enjoying reading the book because you become more animated rather than the content. As they get older they seem to choose the same story over and over which can be monotous for Mum and Dad!

It's great that you are instilling a love of books on your bub - hopefully it is a love that stays with him/her forever.

Great thread

Ours is 8 months and has no preference yet, except that I would go for more board books and soft books. he likes to grap and chew the books, so we have to almost keep him away from the books we read to him to protect them.

I didn't 'udnerstand' board books - now I wish we had more board and soft books.
