I'm a nursing mother and would like to buy Materna myself rather than buying it from my doctor.

I believe that according to a marketing/distribution agreement, Materna and Elevit are only distributed through Doctors' offices. I got free pre-natal vitamins through Tsan Yuk Hospital (the govt ante-natal care hospital). I'm guessing if you register for the public well-baby care, then you can probably get them free that way too.
