Research Among Expatriates- PLEASE HELP

As part of my degree, I am researching "Challenges Expatriates Face" with particular focus on adjustment issues and availability of support during the transfer.

Three groups I need to interview are expatriate males, homemaker spouses and experts (HR directors, counselors, executive search firms, relocation agents etc).

So far, I have not been able to reach enough male expatriates and experts. Please let me know if you are one of the above and willing to spare 30 minutes. Homemaker spouses who would like to express opinions are welcome as well.

The study has two parts. First, a 10 minute survey followed up 20-30 minutes interview. I need to be in Central due to logistics but can interview other locations through phone.

For Central location, I can meet you at your office or will be happy to buy coffee at a coffee shop near you.

I have to finish the research within the next five weeks. I NEED all HELP I can get!

I am afraid I am not able to pay anything as I am a PhD student and this is not a commercial study.

Thanks so much for agreeing to participate. I am sending you a PM re the information. Just a clarification for others who might read this; the first part of the survey can be sent by email which should take 10 mins to fill however the second part has to be at least a phone interview ideally face to face interview.

Why only expatriate males? There are many professional female expatriates out there...

Thanks for taking interest and asking questions. The reason I am specifically asking for male expatriates and experts is because unfortunately I have not been able to fill my quota for those two groups.
Women, both expat spouses and expatriates have been very helpful so far but I am behind on the other two groups. However, if you have any opinions you would like express, I would love to interview you. Just send me a PM to organize a meeting for face-to-face or on the phone.

Dear All,

Unfortunately I am not getting enough response to proceed successfully with this research. Ladies have been helpful mostly through the friends circle but I do need more Expatriate working males and females and experts (homemaker spouses who have strong opinions on the subject are also welcome).

Please help!!! I have 5 month old twins alongside this project and need all the goodwill I can get to come up with something that will be worth reading.

Needless to say names are completely confidential as this is an academic study. I am happy to do phone interviews as well.

I would suggest you walk down to Exchange Square at lunchtime & accost any expat about to sit down to have lunch by himelf. Advise your situation & ask if they can chat while eating. Am sure many would help. Otherwise got to HK park & get people while sitting on the bench watching the waterfall & turtles....

If they are not coming to you, then you need to go to them..... I assume you have a elper with twins so should be able to get out for 90 mins..

Thanks for the advice. I have left mall and outdoor interceptions as my last resort but will do if I cannot fill my quota. I am still hoping there will be more volunteers through here. Thanks again.

I'm not sure how you would define an expert - I'm female, have lived here for 24 years, and although I'm not a relocation agent I am a property agent and part of the job is advising newcomers on various aspects of life in Hong Kong. If you think I can help, please send me a pm.
