Moving to USA with an external London U LLB

I have an 'External' degree. I am based in HK and my degree is from external London U.

Do you know if that qualifies me to sit for the California Bar Exam? I need to go through an credential evaluation after which it will be up to the bar to tell me if I am eligible or I got to do further studies like LLM.

Any idea? Anyone got admitted?

It seems to be a too-specific question for a "Living in or moving to HK" forum. Have you tried contacting the California Law Society direct?

I am not certain, but I think the California bar exam is pretty much open to anyone with our without a law degree.
I recall some years ago reading a story in the newspaper that a convicted con serving time in prison took and passed the California bar after having studied for years in the prison library.

Its not that I havent done my own research. Yes I did. I called them couple of times however I felt people there were not helpful or I would say they cannot give answers without looking at my qualifications.

I thought because there is a pool of expats here, someone might have had this experience. So perhaps someone could provide an answer that I was looking for.

Simply, can an external LLB from London U qualify me to sit for the California Bar exam....?
