Ed, are you working on fixing this problem ?
For about the last two weeks it has been getting slower and slower until all I get are messages saying "time expired and banners loading".

We know the causes of the problem and are taking urgent action to resolve this.
One of the causes is that we are exceeding 10,000 unique visitors on our HK site alone on some days and our system is having trouble handling the loads. That however is a relatively minor issue and does not cause excessive slowness. We are completely rebuilding the sites and once done they will be able to handle far larger traffic than this and deliver lightening fast page loads.
The bigger problem is related to a VPN we have set up with Singapore that loads banners to the HK site. For some reason the connection to Singapore has been flaky (possibly related to recent damage to undersea cabling). As you know the problem intensified around lunch today so what we have done is contracted to set up another server in Hong Kong to host our billions of banners eliminating the need for the VPN to Singapore.
This is a super urgent priority - I am told by our tech guys that this could be in place as soon as tomorrow possibly sooner.

If my "memory" reminds me right it requires a continual investment but still a bit cloudy on that.

Indeed an ongoing investment is required... the price tag to shift to the new platform will run close to HKD1.5M... it's really eating into my Molson funds :(
However I am sure once you experience the new site you'll agree the sacrifice has been worthwhile

Yes - but **ONLY** if :=
1) We get rid of this putrid pale blue writings and get NICE - easy to read - BLACK chaaracters instead.
2) The option to attach graphics to "first [PM] messages" rather than having to wait to get a response before we can do so.
3) To see WHEN - or even IF PM are read.
4) To see how often anyone's adverts are perused.
5) Any other business???

All this is coming and a lot more... we have a big team at PASR technologies going through every section of the site suggesting and implementing major improvements.

Well, my friends told me that a lot was promised about two years(?) ago when a "new" website was put on-line - and requests for decent colored scripts were ignored then.
Personally, I would like to select as a "Personal Preference" - only listings of the Forums that I want to visit were displayed - like I'm never going to visit "Adopting a Child" or several others which hold no interest to me - but may do for others.
i.e. Just let the user select WHICH forums are offered to him/herself.......and "hide" the others until ACTIVELY requested.

While there were massive changes made to the skin of the site two years ago (we cannot make every single change that is requested of course) the code that we are currently using that 'powers' the sites is .asp which is very old and it restricts what we are able to do with the presentation of the sites...
Once the new code is in place we will be able to options to add a lot more features to the various sections.

Interpretation... this means the banners will no longer be served out of Singapore which means we wont have those intermittent slow page loads...
