Where to buy vitamins and a US/UK-made Mandarin textbook?

1. Vitamins

Back in the U.S., I’d go to Walmart to get vitamins on the cheap (300 pills of 500mg vitamin C’s for $10) or better yet, go to vitamins.com and buy up in bulk for their insane buy-two-get-two-free deal.

Is there anyplace in HK that would offer at least something like Walmart prices? TaoBao has some very expensive vitamin C and some Lysine but hardly anything else.

2. Textbook

Not a big fan of local teaching methods. Want to buy a western-made beginners’ Mandarin textbook, preferably used and with a CD.
Any used or new bookstore you’d recommend?

I doubt you'll find anything at Walmart prices. However you can go to a GNC store (for example Admiralty MTR, Queensway Plaza and next to Times Square) or your grocery store.

Thank you. They had GNC vitamin C at Manning's, but at USD30 three times as expensive as back home.
Same goes for textbooks price-wise, and the impossible-to-find used-books shop at Lyndhurst only had a few unimpressive volumes...

u shd stock up on vitamens when you visit the us or have ask people to bring them from the states to hk

The US does have rock bottom prices easily available in any number of round-the-corner superstores. HK, not so much. ;)

Order them on line and have them sent out still much cheaper than in HK. I use Glucosamine and Chondroitin tablets. Order from Puritan's Pride, costs about $1HK/tablet including postage. Similar tablets here, same and different brands about $4.5-5HK/tablet. I get all my vitamens etc from PP and do bulk orders with friends and neighbours to cut down on postage

Why are vitamins so expensive in HK? 1 bottle of multi vitamin from Centrum is 300 + dollars, rip off.

they are cheaper in surrounding countries so i think hk is the problem, the known greed of our two retailers here ....
