Science question - need help! Posted by peekaboo (42 days ago) There are three levels of temperature in a container - top level, middle level and the lower level. If we put a thermometer in the container right to the bottom level of the container and pull it out, the temperature will change. How can we measure the temperature of the bottom level and keep the same temperture when we pull out the themometer after passing the middle and top level of the container? Find what you are after in our Hong Kong A-Z Directory  Posted by 190k (42 days ago) Use a digital thermometer if not put the thermometer in then invert the container. pull the thermometer to the top (which is now the bottom and the when you take out the thermometer you have the bottom reading
Posted by punter (42 days ago) You need to make a reading without taking out the thermometer from the lower level. You just have to find a way to do it.

Posted by cyberience (41 days ago) It wont work, when you invert, the warmer temperature will rise, and lower temp will fall, creating inconsistency. unless you factor in the dissipation rate or the material you are using, and its ability to retain its temperature. If the Thermometer is quick enough, you may get close, but the action of the thermometer in moving though the substance will cause tidal and mixing behavior, and the temperature of the thermometer will its self effect the ambient temperature too. |
