North China holiday spot?

I have read enough of the 'tropical paradise' spots available to all on this forum. I hate the hot and blazing sun of bali and i would rarely choose to go there. Has anyone been to qingdao, shandong, china? i would like some first hand comments. i want to play golf, have a good swim (indoor heated pool) at a nice place, all for china cheap. Yes, in early december when the days are cloudy, cool and rainy. Any suggestions? Shanghai also possible.
