multi-purpose room/hall for rent?
Posted by cara (27 days ago)
ok, i'm trying to plan a christmas party for all of my students. having a bit of a hard time as our "school" is WAYYYYY too small.
i'm on a VERY tight budget, so have been looking at gov't facilities, but can't seem to find any place that fits my requirements:
1) cheap, i'm talking $2-3000 at the MOST!
2) large enough for about 100 children (under 4 yrs) and 200 adults
3) allowed to bring in food & drink
4) easy access
5) possibly allow us to bring in a bouncy castle type thing (not necessary, though
6) would probably need it for minimum 4 hours (preferably on a saturday or sunday)
7) available either weekend of Dec 5 or 12
if you know of any place, please let me know.
Thanks!

have you looked here? A lot of the sport places have active rooms.

yep, most of them are not big enough for the numbers of people. i spent much of the morning calling the various facilities offered by the LCSD. but thanks anyway!

What about Sai Kung town hall, thats a fair size.

How about a government holiday camp site? While you probably couldn't get a inflatable castle inside their hall, this could be set up outside.
Obviously you do not need to camp there and you can just pay for a half day/full day? rental of the facilities you require - just a day camp.

thanks for the help guys. i've looked at the holiday camps, i'm only concerned about the transportation. we live in the country park, so know what the buses are like on weekends.
i've also considered the town hall in sai kung. haven't called them yet, though.
thanks for the help guys!

thanks, i'll check it out....
to be honest, after considering it all day yesterday, i may just do little parties at the end of each class. might be easier....

instead of a venue - how about hiring a basketball court or tennis court or even the park.

there is a playground directly across the street, but i didn't know if i could just pull up with a couple of tables and make a party there or would someone come and kick us out?

you need to find out who manages it first. most probably the leisure and cultural dept too. also check out bbq sites,
from their website
Outdoor pitches/courts are provided by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in the urban area and the New Territories free of charge. These facilities include 3-a-side, 5-a-side and 7-a-side hard-surface soccer pitches, basketball, netball, volleyball, handball, gateball, badminton and tennis practice courts. Some of these courts can be used for large scale community events. Most of the venues are provided with floodlights for use at night time.
