"Blomberg" = Hi-electrical efficiency; 6Kg capacity. with purchasable additional 3 year warrantee from "Fortress" - that's what we use and satisfied with purchase of a very few months ago - the cheapest unit then & maybe now.

If fitting UNDER a height restricted work-surface, for a small extra charge, top can be replaced with flush metal plate - but demand back the original top to keep for later.

Dryer? We use a fan and TWO dehums to dry washing when needed!

Just been looking for one myself and a friend recommended the Panasonic shop on O'Brien road in Wanchai (under the pedestrian bridge there). She had just refurbished her home and had shopped around for good prices. If I was looking for a large American style front loader I would try there as they had 2 big models.

Before shopping for one you will need to know whether you have upper or lower water supply. Apparently if your water supply is 4 or more inches off the ground then you need an 'upper' style and a 'lower' type if the water supply is below that. (You can tell I am really technically inclined!)

I did quite a lot of research on washing machines a little while back. Reading what freelance washing machine repairmen said etc all pointed to the German brands.

If you have the budget, buy Miele. If not, Siemens do a broad range of prices. Between the shops in Times Square, you will see a very broad selection.

Had a flooded kitchen from a ruddy Siemens - a total failure of an electric powered water input solenoid on/off caused the water to start flowing when the machine wasn't even switched on!

And with the water On/Off tap hidden behind the washing machine - I had to dash down to the mains stop-co*k to cut the water off whilst Maid mopped up so we could get to the wretched Siemens washing machine's On/Off tap without getting completely soaked.

My view : Siemens sucks - if their NON-FAIL-SAFE engineering is ANYTHING to go by.

I hate to think what would have happened to our flat, and the flats below us if this had occurred whilst we were away on an extended holiday - & not forgetting the massive water bill too!
