Repairing a 10 year old Fridge

Our refigerator has broken down.

The light (inside) still goes on, so I know we have an electrical connection, but the fan and condensor make no sound, and so seem not to be running.

Gilman wants $600 (I think it is), just to look at the problem

Does anyone have a reliable repair service to recommend?

Sorry, my gut only does HK Island.

Based on previous experience, for something that old it is most likely to be the compressor. If so, I would usually just replace the fridge rather than attempt to fix it. If you do buy a new one, make sure they agree to take the old one away when they deliver.

(Inspection cost: If client is not able to give us an immdiate response, we may need to send our staff for checking with a charge HK$150.00)

2)Rest of the time: (or public holiday) -- Repair fee HK$500.00

(Inspection cost: If client is not able to give us an immdiate response, we may need to send our staff for checking with a charge HK$150.00)

Gilman charges HK$350 to "have a look"

(But I worry their real job is to sell a NEW machine)

Other, smaller co'c charge less than that.

maybe the fan and radiator have frozen over due to high humidity recently. Try full defrost over a couple of days. Be warned that water will come out for teh bottom so get lots of old towels ready.
