Classified ads scam alert

I'm likely not be the only one who's seen this, but I have had someone reply to my ad through a text msg, from an international number (+1-xxx-xxx-xxxx), saying they are interested in my 'item' (sic) and would like to be contacted by an email.

Upon doing so, they reply with a made up story that they are abroad but want to purchase your 'item' and will arrange to have it picked up and that they will pay you by paypal, which is when they ask you for your paypal account details...

It's pretty obvious that it is a phishing scam as you read the vague email which doesn't even mention what it is exactly they want to buy, but I thought I'd mention it here just in case.

Of course, this is not a problem with Asiaxpat per se, as everyone on the internet can see your ad and your number, so it probably happens with other classified websites as well.

it happens a lot, there is still enough supply of gullible fools, but thanks for the warning.
