Brown crumbly bits on my floor? What are they?

Hi all,

I moved apartments recently and then took a short vacation. On returning to my apartment, I found small brown things scattered across the floor.

Upon inspection, most seem no bigger than the length of a fingernail, and appear to be made of crumbly brown material. It looks like bug matter. There is no discernable shape, body, legs, nor head. Some of the spots have small white masses next to them. None of it appears to be alive. I thought it might be cockroaches molting, but the masses do not look cockroach-shaped. They're more oblong, like mini rabbit pellets. Wish I could attach a photo.

Does anyone know what these are? I never had anything like it in my old apartment, nor in any other city where I have lived. Could a rodent be eating roaches? Or some other type of bug molting? I've never seen nor heard any rodents or large bugs moving about when I'm home, but then again, I was just on holiday.

Thanks for any insight!

Typically reptiles have droppings with white matter at the ends. It may just be a lizard...

I think you might have termites.
