application for PR

Hi All,

This is for a non-Chinese friend. He has spent 7 years in HK and needs to apply for a PR now.

The catch is that his company recently moved him to Manilla on an expat package (his payrill is in HK) and he moved there last year (before he reached the 7 years mark). His Bank says that it shouldn't be an issue for the PR since his payroll is in HK and he hasn't spent more than 6 months away from HK and is suppoed to come back to HK in 2 years.

He is coming to HK in 2nd week of February to apply. The question is that

Do his wife and kids have to be physically present in HK when he applies for their PR or can he come to HK alone and apply om their behalf?

His kids have school and other commitments so he wants to avoid bringing them here (for submitting the application) if possible. he wants to come here by himself and apply.

Please let me know if that's possible?

They must be in HK when the application is made. No exceptions.

You can email and ask also the immigration department so its clear.
They usually answer in 2 days max. Always got good and clear answers to any questions.
Or, you walk up and ask at counter, in Wan Chai....
