A little mental
Posted by Furrowed Brow (410 days ago)
Does anyone know who I should talk to? I guess this 'relationship' topic has to do with myself. I'm in a stupid office having a big time panic attack. Its not that anyone can see but I am hugely irritable, hugely sad, and I really really hate myself. And worst of all, I can't stop myself from feeling this way.
Its been a case of more rejection - not even romantic rejection - just rejection. In which afterwards I always feel ugly beyond belief, queer as hell, and lost in ways that I cannot even begin to explain.
I wonder now if I am in the wrong city - its lonely, I don't fit in culturally among the locals and even among expats I feel a complete outsider.
But right now I am just feeling totally mental and that's dangerous. I need to talk to someone - I really need to talk to someone.

Sweetie you need a slap around the face with a wet kipper... please stop doing this to yourself...
I am not too sure where the insecurities are coming from but you have got to have faith in yourself... after all you got this far and have a whole future and big bad world to look forward to...
It's all good you know... just needs a tad of hope, faith and positive thinking...
Now go outside and look around you... you are lucky and in one of the most beautiful and diverse places in the world...
Smile and enjoy...

yes, sometimes it is so difficult to find a person to talk to when you are in a fanatic situation. you can try to speak here...at least...
try to calm down... it will be passed...

hi!how long have u been staying here? well.. don't u think ur just being homesick? if ur kinda new in a place it sometimes does happen but when u find some new friends,ul be more at ease to other people and most importantly to urself. pray for inner guidance. nobody and i mean nobody can ever say he was never rejected..so ur not alone in that feeling. well...why don't you have a break? go on holiday...it might help.

It will pass - just not quickly. I would stop it if I could. And right now it has nothing to do with going outside and looking at the world. If I go outside I will explode. Because the only thing I want to do is scream. Its a big scream building up. And I need help - I need real help.

it's not easy i know... somehow...i can feel exactly the way ur feeling right now. cant u make a call right now? i mean phone a family member or ur closest friend. sometimes, just hearing their voice can make us feel a lot better.

Screaming is good... I used to go to my rooftop and howl at the moon like the deranged banshee I aspire to be... and usually in the middle of a typhoon... and it works!
Punching pillows helps too... as does a good outlet like shooting ole TV's... or even dropping crockery or kiwi fruit out of the window...
You need a time out and an outlet...
Go and jump into the pool at the Shangri-la fully clothed... you will feel much better...
Trust me... I am not a doctor...

Does anyone know a counselor to recommend to FB? Can't you feel the plea? A name and a telephone number, please! Someone here must know someone.

I have my office depression attacks sometimes. I get very irritable, cannot concentrate on my work, just feel like spacing out, or lying in bed and staring at the ceiling, thinking about nothing and everything. The trigger can be anything. You just need a sympathetic ear, a friend to listen to you. It's not easy, I know. I 'm still looking myself. Be stong and hang in there

Hi FB, I'm sorry to hear that you're having some difficulties. I would strongly urge you to seek some therapy. It's nothing to be ashamed of and it might help you to better understand why it is that you are struggling. Challenges in life are sometimes bigger than we are and therapy can help you to find a way out. I also might suggest that you get a screening done for both depression and for anxiety disorders.
Life is too short not to enjoy it. Be proactive and seek help. You might have to see a few therapists before finding one that suits you, but don't give up the search. Things really CAN get better!
Hope you can find some peace and happiness in your life, FB.

I hope it passes but if you have a gp you like he or she can do wonders to help you. Go find a doctor NOW and just talk and you will be amazed that just that first step will begin the better times process.

PS - go check out GNC about some 5-HTP stuff. They have this stuff called SEROTAIN which kinda balances out your seratonin levels. It works wonders and helps you get a restful sleep! :o)

Sleep is a great thing for weight loss. Being uptight and awake all night makes us gain weight.
Sleep is good for lots of stuff. I WANT some !

Who really fits in culturally in this city? Lets face a few facts. I read that New York's native white population is at around 57 -60 % of total that means a massive 40% of other nationalities intermingling in NY. In comparison about 1% of Hong Kong's Population is made up of non-chinese. So if you think you don't fit it in you're probably right. But don't let it get you down. It's time to re-evaluate. Time to take positive action. Find a friend. You really need someone you can open up to, in person, with drink, a chat and a laugh.

Isn't really a case of forcing one's self into jobs, cities, environments, groups, relationships that we're mentally and physically not suited to? According to the 80/20 theory if we make just a small shift in habits most suited to our natural dispositions we gain a 400% increase in productivity and happiness. We'll achieve 80% with 20%. The status quo is working your balls off and only achieving 20%. More info about the 80/20 principle here. www.the8020principle.com

Hey FB
You sound like you're having a hard time ... there's lots of good advice here and friends, punching pillows etc all helps... but it sounds like you could really do with some outside help... somewhere you can go and have someone really focus on what's going on for you... would you consider counselling? St John's are good http://www.stjohnscathedral.org.hk/counselling.html (just recommended them for someone else on this site - maybe they could pay me commission!)
You've already taken the first step by posting here - it gets easier - good luck

Hi FB
Sorry to hear about your dilemma dude. I can sympathize with you as I had a similar experience. By the sounds of it you have probably been experiencing some stress over a period of time which has been building up and building up. Now it is getting to bursting point where you probably feel like screaming or crying. Kate 71 has given you some sound advise. Talking to friends doesn't really help because it would only be a real good friend who has trust in your friendship that will tell you what you need to hear. Normally friends tell you what you want to hear, which doesn't help you. Go and see the guys at St Johns. They will give you professional non biased advise which will help you get your Ying and Yang aligned. Plus something for you to chew over, which just reinforces the suggestion of talking to a professional. An author stated in his book " beware of someone who is always leaning on other peoples garden fence advising you how to keep your garden in order, because if the truth of the matter is normally someone who is always spending time advising others normally owns a garden which is in a complete mess. I am by no means saying that is true for all. All I am saying is that if you are that stressed get some professional advise. If this concerns you, think of it this way. If you had a bad back, would you allow a complete stranger to massage it if they had no qualifications??
All the best FB and rest assured there is light at the end of it. When you sort this hick up you will become a stronger better individual who will have gained wisdom and knowledge to carry with you for future challenges
All the best dude
