I need to hear other people stories about how your relationship changed (if it is the case) with your husband since you are in Hong Kong.
Thanks !

Oh my god! Hong Kong totally changes people!!!
In England, my boyfriend was just like everyone else, normal bloke. He moved to Hong Kong, and suddenly he's Chinese. He'd never speak Cantonese in England, even when I begged him to, but in Hong Kong he even shouts at me in Cantonese when I pee him off.
When I lived in England I dressed like every other British girl, and he never complained even once! Then I come to Hong Kong, and it suddenly, "Why do you show so much cleavage?" "You should cook and clean for me." That came from nowhere, I can tell you!
In England, he lived with some friends and was pretty independant. Now he listens to everything his mum says as if it's gospel.
Even I changed actually... My boyfriend bought me a diamond ring for my birthday, he doesn't earn a lot and it was about 0.25ca. I looked at it and went, 'Oh is that it?' but if it'd been 2 yrs before in England, I would hve jumped up and down and been so excited.
Hong Kong totally changes people.

it's not the place, its the person
Like any crowded, cosmopolitan city, there is a lot of superficialness around. This is necessary to survive the hectic pace such cities thrive on.
What is needed is a strength of character that transcends the obvious and is able to delve deeper into the surroundings.
This is not easy for someone coming from perhaps a more laid back environment. They either start off too trusting and get hurt or too defensive and nver truly experience the richness on offer.
Yes, Hong kong is a hard and fast place, but to truly enjoy its richness one needs to keep an open mind. Genuine sincerity, empathy, and truthfulness will go a long way to enriching your experiences here, and if you can fake that, you've got it made!
