Hi,

I stopped in today and met up with Rebecca....of Rebecca's. Very nice lady and nice to deal with. This process is actually alot easier then anticipated especially when you arm yourself with the right information.

Now, in terms of bargaining, I have heard mixed opinions on this...she seemed to indicate that her price was fixed indicating that it was due to the fact I was buying a diamond and not a ring under the glass..display counter. Is this a truth or is she just trying to be shrewd and think I would not investigate further?

Just to share with you a good interactive learning on diamonds from the GIA. This will give you an idea of diamond grading.

It will be difficult to know what is the fair price, unless you know the price index.
My thought ..Ask the jeweller whether she can share her shop's selling price index that she used/refered to for that particular diamond.

I read that Diamond retailers refer to the weekly publication "Rapaport Diamond report" to work out their pricing baseline.

NOt sure about the reasons for not discounting a stone but I have always found here prices to be pretty good.

Shop around and you can have a look at this site for some price guides.
