Where is your fave hot pot resto?

Will it be crowded during the CNY holiday season?

My favourite, which is known as one of the best amongst locals (and also where you see some names hang out) is called Hot Pot Restaurant on Hillwood Road in Jordan. Food is very fresh but you will need friends who can read and speak Cantonese unless you can do so yourself.

Spring Autumn Restaurant on Leighton Road specialises in hot pot. Otherwise, you can try Little Sheep in Causeway Bay Plaza 2 for something cheap and cheerful. Other alternative is Japanese hotpot (shabu shabu or sukiyaki).

Him Kee Hot Pot on Jaffe Road, Top Grade Hot Pot in Tin Hau, or 潮民 on Wun Sha Street in Tai Han (back of CWB).

I recently went to Little Sheep hotpot in Causeway Bay Plaza 2.

I wouldn't go there again.

The soup base tasted like some Chinese medicinal herb based soup stalk.

The noodles (we ordered 2 types) were very pasty even though they were supposedly freshly made.

There were four of us and no one liked the noodles.

There dumplings weren't very good either. The skin was thick and doughy and the filling tasted awful. I took one bite and had to spit it out.

What I ended up eating the most were vegetables and the mongolian beef which was pretty nice.

We asked for chicken breast and they told us that they had only Chicken wings or thighs.

The prawns that they had were very small. They didn't have larger prawns even if you wanted them.

We had no alcohol and the total bill turned out to be $1080.

They only provided us with soya sauce as a dipping.

Any other type of sauce was considered extra.

Hence, we paid extra for sesame sauce, chopped garlic sauce, and chilli sauce.

Vanillapod1 said that the hot pot was cheap and cheerful.....I didn't think $1080 was very cheap for the quality of food that we ordered.

The staff were nice enough. However, the manager kept pushing us to buy a VIP membership.

I would not recommend Little Sheep Hot pot restaurant.

My other friends were disappointed as well and wouldn't go again or recommend it to their friends.
