HI MY WIFE IS PREGNANT OF 10 WEEKS. CAN ANYNE PLEASE ADVISE IN SHANGHAI WHO IS A GOOD DOCTOR AND WHICH IS A GOOD HOSPITAL TO GIVE ME FOLLOW TROUGH OF HER PREGNANCY..ALSO CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET A EXAM DONE TO SEE WETHER THE CHILD IS A GIRL OR A BOY

Does she speak Chinese? I had my baby at Red House Hospital, which is very local, but was a wonderful experience. Otherwise, I have heard good things about United Family [super pricey] and International Peace [local hospital with a foreigner wing]. I had a bad experience at one of the joint ventures before settling on the Red House [Hong Fangzi], and ended up there for two reasons: first, they do more births than anyone else in the city, so if there are complications, their doctors are the ones who get called to many of these joint ventures, but without having to get stuck in traffic first as they are on-site and second because EVERY Chinese person that I asked said that it was the best one in town.

I believe it is illegal to tell you the sex of the foetus, because of China's huge problem of girls being aborted. I have heard that some clinics may tell you if both parents are Western, but I don't know which clinics.

I'm also pregnant in Shanghai.
I'm going to Shanghai United Hospital, they are wonderful over there, I'm seeing MK (midwife)

also, regarding the baby's sex, if you're a foreigner, you they will tell you during the US test in every hospital, even in Chinese hospitals.
