PLEASE READ Multiple pregnancy reduction

Hello everybody,

we just found out that we have 4 heartbeats even though we only transferred 3 embryos! The doc has recommended that we abort the identical twins ASAP (by the end of this week). Has anyone got any information regarding the procedure?
we are a bit freaked out as the doc only speaks little English....
help..

Don't know much about the procedure but would advise to see a Western DR. I used Dr Haines. He is part of the Prince of Wales Hospital. Really nice, patient and informative DR.

AKLB you seem to be based in Other, guess not HK? Am with frogpink - see if you can get yourself to HK or another large city with western doctors? or just call Matilda hospital or something in HK and talk to someone to see whether it is really that urgent. Do your research on internet too - see what the risks and statistics etc are. Good luck, what a difficult thing to do! Did you consider having all 4 (I cant believe I am asking this, I have twins I know how hard having 2 is!! but still?)

THanks so much for your suggestions!
As we are in Mainland China it is a bit difficult for us to go to HK (too far away) They will do the reduction here tomorrow.... Having 4 babies at one time is just too risky and I have already lost 3 kilos because I can't keep food in my system.... Thank you

Hi there,
Well we thought they were going to do the procedure today but there was a communication problem somewhere!?! They only wanted to do a scan today to check and see the location of the embryos as the doc. is too busy today and then do the procedure on Sunday or Monday! We have now decided to cancel the whole thing and wait for a bit. It is just too exhausting and difficult here with all the language problems. We need to have this done somewhere where they speak English. The good news is that I feel much better now ;-) If you have a phone number for the hospitals you mentioned it would be great if you could post them... We are still hoping that not all of them stay aboard but if they do we will have to have a reduction done.

Where in China are you?
If you are in Guangzhou or thereabouts, try the VIP Birthing Clinic in GZ. They are very knowledgeable, speak English and have new good facilities.
