Baby Movements
Posted by !@#$%^&*() (192 days ago)
I'm now on week 34 and baby has been moving quite a lot! Just wondering, what sort of baby movement you ladies have been feeling....are they a mixture of kicks, baby moving from side to side, etc??
How much is the baby supposed to move at this stage? He/She seems to be moving non stop recently....little kick here, turn to another side, another kick somewhere...it's fun to watch but am just really curious if other ladies feel the same movements.
Thanks.

you will shortly get to the point that you want to scream...."just go to sleep!"
i know i did with both of mine. both of mine were quite small, under 5.5 lbs at birth and so they still had quite a lot of room to manouevre in there... i think it depends on how big the baby is as to how much movement you get and when it starts to slow down a little...
enjoy it!

thanks cara.
am just surprised at how much the baby is moving. on my last check-up, i was at week 33 and my uterus was 34cm big...midwife said it's a big baby....where does he/she find the room to move so much?
i guess this will be one of the feelings i'll miss after birth...:)

I've read that you should count at least 10 movements in a 4 hour period. Any movement counts, even slight ones. This is the minimum though.

Speaking of movements, when did everyone feel the first kick? I am on my 18th week, and it is my first baby. I am really looking forward to the day I can feel the movement!!

bebe1, i felt the first movement on my 21st week,,,and even then, it wasn't very strong yet...my midwife has said some women don't feel anything until week 25 or even 26...
this is also my first baby and got afraid when i haven't felt movement by week 17...had met someone who was in the same week as me back then and she had been feeling movements since she was week 15!
Proves that every pregnancy is different.

"where does he/she find the room to move so much?"
There is not a lot of space. Otherwise you wouldn't feel the movement. ;)

Typically between 18 and 22 weeks you'll feel something. Faintly.

most of the time you ARE feeling the flutterings but you just don't realise it... with your second, you notice them much earlier and you recognise them for what they are.

I felt my first movements during week 17. I've read that women tend to notice their first fetal movements between week 16 - 20.
