I got one word for anyone who wants to know what the best Frech delicacy is - FROGS. Love 'em.
Erm, most French food is roast or steak or salad, and the biggest distinguishing factor I noticed with French cuisine is the variety of sauces. I found the following website helpful in the past: http://www.frenchrecipe.net/

am French, had a look on above recommanded website, pretty poor and not so easy.

However in France we do eat mostly what would be called a "continental" mix of food, for example, pastas is Italian, but in France an avarage family will have a pasta diner at least once a week.
Your bf might not appreciate Asian food, but he still should accept a variety of cooking, as long it stay within western food.

The new fashion of French cook is WOK. But we don't cook with a wok like asian do.
Take some vegetables like carrots, small corn, brocoli, ginger (a bit) etc....
Put a bit os oil in the wok, add your vegetables.
Add a bit of water to cook them.
Add salt and pepper at the end - no soya sault.
The vegetable must be cooked and a bit soft.
It is asian food by French.
