What's the best way to get a website up and running.
I've tinkered with one a few years ago in front page but never published it.
Now I have got office 2007 but there is is no front page included, so I was wondering if it is possible to make one with, say.. word, excel or access, or do hosting companies have their own software and support services.
It is just for posting and have others post vidio's and have an e-mail account system similer to this site.

You can make one with word, powerpoint or publisher. Most hosting companies also have support services that you can subscribe to, but I found them to be quite restrictive in the style and layout. For freebies, I have tried geocities or tripod.

What you want in your website it's most important thing! If you want just upload in to your ftp some video and pictures and give link to them from your website u can do this website even with word no problem! But if you going to make business with this site u better ask some pro. designers do it for you and about hosting company they have their samples but it's limited choice! If you not choose hosting company yet I recommended Readyspace www.readyspace.com visit their website and u can call to +852 2961 4204 and ask Adrian and say KHAN give his contact number as I see they are best in hosting business!
Yeah one more thing I have design studio if you think about business website!

This type of site is properly known as Content Management (software).
You can get FREE hosting (without banners) at www.doteasy.com. They have a free software package.
Before registering with them, get your URL registered for 5 years - saves even more money.

There is some reasonably good free software out there that you can download for creating websites. One is nVu and another is Evrsoft first page.
Links here:

nVu is great if you're looking for a WYSIWYG program, whilst Firstpage is very helpful for those using code for the first time.

If you want to have a professional website, don't start with Word or PPT. Have someone setup the website design and templates properly, and using a Content Management System - so that it looks and all is done in a professional way. Afterwards you are able to change the content of your website by yourself, as simple as using Word, through the Content Management System.
We offer a free Content Management System, OpenCms, that works well. Only costs are for the initial implementation and design of website and templates.
Let me know if you need help.
