DVD region question for DTS

Help - completely non-tech person with tricky question- have a Sony Mini Hi-Fi component system with DVD video, DTS, etc that only plays Region 2 DVDs - Have tried to hook it up to my separate multi-region Sony DVD player, but can't connect it digitally as no optical cable on multi-region DVD player - only coaxial. Sony mini hi-fi has optical jacks but no coaxial.

Please help - would really like to play all my region 1 and 3 and 4 dvds on this DTS mini-system without having to buy (yet another)dvd player. Can I get the Region 2 DVD player 'chipped' or changed to a multi-region player (have tried all the on-line hack things and none available for my model!) and if it is possible to get something changed, where do I go in HK? If it really is not possible to change the region 2 dvd on the mini hi-fi, will it be possible to get a separate dvd player with optical jack and connect it to my sony hi-fi via the hi-fi's dvd optical cable (the hi fi also has optical jacks for a MD - really not too sure what this is)!

My TV is a Samsung LCD with no optical or coaxial anything.

Would be really grateful for advice/help!

Since you are getting an underwhelming response ....

Do a google search on your pieces of equipment (by model number?) and toss in 'optical coaxial connection' - you may come up with a few hits.

Thanks - have done this and worked out that I need a coaxial to optical converter in order to connect multiregion dvd to minihifi home theatre system. The converters seem readily available from places like Radioshack for about $15 US - can anyone point me in the direction of the right place in HK to buy one of these? thanks , ML

go to Ap Liu Street in sham shui po. You should be able to find anything you need there!
