Lenovo won't stand by their warranty!!

Has anyone had trouble with Lenovo covering products still under warranty? We bought a laptop - Lenovo Yoga around 6 months ago and the screen has cracked in the corner through no fault of ours. The only thing we can think of is there must be a weakness when the screen gets flipped over to make it a tablet. Lenovo say as it was fine when it left the shop, it is not covered under the warranty and we cracked it ourselves. Can anyone help me as to what I should do? They are quoting $2500 to fix it and surely a warranty is a warranty - not on the condition that nothing is covered if it was fine when we purchased it!!
