l have an HP Touchsmart Desktop that is not working and have heard of people who will take broken computers. Does anyone know how much l would get for it? lm just wondering if its worth selling or should l just throw it away.

It would be advantageous IF you said what it doesn't do!
Perhaps all it needs is a new/replacement CMOS battery - a mere paltry few dollars and then, it might work again for years & years.
CMOS batteries are not "everlasting" & they are often the reason why computers "No Go" when this battery reaches life's end!

Be careful! Before you throw away the CPU.
1.Take out Hard drive
2.Take out Rams
3.Take out Sound Card
4.Take out Graphic Card
5. Check if u have any other storage device in the CUP and remove it
WHY?
Because Storage device store all you information in it ( BANK Account , social media user pass , CV , Personal Mails , you works ).
