Has anybody tried this resort? Is it good, esp for a family with 6-year old kid?

Conratulations msnglnk! I have family in Minnesota too, three generations, in St Paul and Mankato. I wish all yours a good time in China when they go for your wedding. Please share the informaion here if you find a good honeymoon spot in Harbin. A good honeymoon spot is just as good for any family holiday, I guess. Correct me if I am wrong. I am totally unfamiliar with China. I only know that the resort is called Yabuli Ski Resort. I've never been to Harbin but just want to be there for a few days during winter looking around.

harbin has the same kind of climate as mn. hot as hell in the summer and colder than an sob in the winter. from what i have seen on cct-9 travelogue; people in harbin enjoy ice fishin (but in a different manner). a group of people will gather around a lake and drag a net across (under the ice). they enjoy skiing, ice-skateing and other winter sports.
i am in shanghai and i would much rather be in harbin during the winter. it may be freezin cold there but at least its dry. its just cold and wet all winter long in shanghai.

Thanks for the information. Insofar as I understand, the ski hills close to Beijing all use artificial snow. Harbin is one of the few places in China that has real snow for skiing. Indeed, I've heard that safety could be an issue in Chinese ski resorts for kids. My little boy is not a capable skier at all, not even myself. May be I should look at Korea or Japan instead - got only 6 days off, can't go too far.

We have taken our (now seven year old) son skiing with us whenever we have skied. However we have always been to Whistler which is very kid friendly (great ski school and loads of kid orientated activities). This year we are going to try Niseko which comes well recommended and the advantage over Canada is no jet lag and (i'm hoping) cheaper. If you would like more information try this link http://www.niseko-hirafu.com/nisekopowderconnection/index.php

Whistler of course is one of the best for kids and also in terms of accommodation and facilities. Niseko is good too, and very kid-friendly. In fact, most of the ski resorts in Hokkaido are. Last winter, we tried two ski resorts in Hokkaido, one in Kiroro and one in Tomamu. Our son had a good time. He loved frolicking in the powdery snow. We'd towed our son along skiing in Korea, Jungfrau and Hokkaido before. In terms of kid-friendliness, I think I'll vote for Japan. I'm sure you'll find it very enjoyable at Niseko. Have a good time! Thanks so much.

Hi I'm moving to HK in a month and looking for serious skiers to go on trips to Japan. I'm 29/male and pretty aggressive skier. Please drop me a line. You'll make my day!
