Looking to rent villa/bungalow within a few hours flight
Posted by axptguy38 (644 days ago)
Hi,
We're looking to rent a 2-3 bedroom villa/bungalow with a pool, preferably on or close to the beach. We have small kids so within 3 hours flight of HK is preferable. The place should have a kitchen/kitchenette and/or full service staff that cooks all meals.
Any ideas? I know there's plenty in Bali but that's a bit further than we really want to travel. Thailand? Vietnam? Philippines?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks usbound. That place looks great. Unfortunately the travel time is about 5½ hours since there are no direct flights.
We are also looking at Bali, which has great villas but is a tad far. However if we have to travel that length of time Bali is good since we can fly direct from HK.

we went to Samui with Bangkok airways - was absolutely fine. Stayed at amazing place - Dhevatara residence. This is not the agency we used - a few of them have it on their books. Cant rememeber which one we used. Anyway - my only problem with villas these days that the pool is right there - so dangerous with small kids, not sure how olds yours are, but we gave up on villas for a couple of years now - will have to stay in hotels...
And yes - there is staff in the villa and food was amazing!

Agree completely about the pool. Our kid are definitely too young to stay in a place with open air living room with the pool 3 feet away.
Thanks for the tip.

Bali. It was "insanely great". We are going back this year to the same exact place.
www.elitehavens.com is the agency we used.

axptguy38, which villa did you stay in? I find it so hard trying to find a villa suitable for small kids, where either the bedrooms aren't completely separate from each other, or there are loads of ponds & other toddler-dangers!
Thanks in advance

We stayed in Villa Cottage Place. It has a study which is adjacent to the master bedroom. Perfect for our kids.
You could send an email to the agency with your criteria. They are glad to recommend a few options.
Then again, it doesn't always turn out exactly right. We specifically asked for a Villa with the pool separate from the house. Now, the pool at Cottage place is at the far end of the garden, so there's an ample buffer zone. However, they forgot to mention the Koi pond. It is right by the living room and the passage from the bedrooms to the living room is on a walkway over the pond, without railings. We laughed when we saw that. In any case we had no issues. We just had to make sure we kept an eye out. I suppose it didn't feel as safe as home, but we had a very relaxing time.
