Romantic weekend without kids?

My wife and I have a significant anniversary in coming months and I wish to whisk her away (outside HK) for a romatic weekend.

Can anyone suggest a good destination and also hotel? I am open to staying at a large well established hotel, but also very interested in any small boutique hotels. Whatever will make her smile but not too much time spent on flights and transfers?

Direct flights only then:
- Bali. Costly but top notch.
- Phuket.
- Koh Samui.
- Langkawi.
- Cebu.

if you are prepared to pay for it - try Oriental express - there are a few destinations - for example 2-3 days one Bangkok to Singapore or to Laos. All looks amazing - am thinking of taking my husband for his 40th... does cost you tho..

Try Aleenta in Phuket (www.aleenta.com) - fabulous for a romantic weekend, especially if you get a beachfront villa. It is part of a small boutique resort - very nice.

The Alegre in Cebu - wonderful little resort. We stayed there last autum. Rooms are fabulous, food is fantastic, in front of the beach is a Marine Sanctuary so you can snorkel off the beach. We absolutely loved it there.
Direct flight from Hong Kong and a 90 minutes transfer to the hotel.

Shanghai. Stay at the Ivy Shanghai. Its a small boutique hotel, only 46 rooms. www.ivyshanghai.com
