Phuket villa or hotel?? with kids..
Posted by mumof2boys (593 days ago)
Hi we are travelling to thailand for our first holiday in 5 years so we are looking forward to this. But we have two toddlers and really want a place where we can enjoy the family activities and have fun together. where should we go? Phuket seems to be very popular. any hotel or villa recommendations? any advice helps. we are on a budget but not wanting a super cheap and nasty place.
Thanks!!

Marriott might be a compromise. Can get 2 bed apt. or hotel room. With apt., you have 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchenette and washer/dryer. With an owner recommendation you can get 3 free nights and pay for additional nights. Catch is that you have to attend a sales presentation and although there's no obligation, they're very convincing.
There are 3 pools, about 4 restaurants, spa, Kid's Club, elephant rides on the beach etc. So plenty for adults and children. Only about 15 mins from the airport.

Marriott would definitely be my recommendation, we had a fabulous holiday there with our 18month old (he was too young for kids club, need to be 4 I think).
Nonetheless if there were not so many other places to explore in Asia, Phuket Marriott would be my first choice for a holiday! Great rooms, outstanding breakfast, great location, responsive staff. If you are looking for a holiday that is resort based in a beautiful location I highly recommend Marriott.
We found it easy with our young son, very family friendly without being overrun with kids.
I have friends that also rave about the Sheraton, I have never been but it also has great reviews.

mumof2boys - we are also going to Marriott in June, i looked into it - looks great and you can acutally get villas with kitchens and 2 bedrooms on the territory of the hotel - so perfect compromise i thought.
The main thing to be aware of, of course, when you rent a villa (not Marriott one, I mean the normal villa with a pool) is the pool - it is right there - hard to miss - we have 2 toddlers and I decided we are not going anywhere near villas again for another 2-3 yrs - until they can swim. You cant get away from a pool on a villa and mine two would be in it in two seconds flat, far too scary of a thought... so hotels is way forward for a couple of years.
Another place we have just come back from is Intercontinental in Bali - was amazing - absolutely perfect with kids, nothing bad to say. Esp if you pay for club - then all food (incl kids') is included as well as kids club. Brilliant. Wish Marriott had the same deal

thanks all for your replies, The marriott looks fabulous but is just a bit too far out of our price range so we can't do that this time. hopefully in the future.
We've found a villa that is owner direct and decided to bring our helper as we will have more pairs of eyes for the kids that way. It is out in a village and right by a beautiful beach, Nai Yang, and 5 minutes from the Phuket airport. We wanted somewhere with a kitchen to cook meals rather than eat out all the time and this place looks so lovely.

Try this place.

You can also buy package deals which comes out very reasonable price.
Was like living in a small jungle and very close to the beach.
