A month in Beijing?

Hi
Some of you might know me from a couple of years ago.
There's a possibility that I'll need a place to stay for about 29 days from 28 December, in Beijing, so I can attend a course in the Dong Cheng district (deng shi Kou st)
Now, there's the usual hotel and budget hotel options.
I did have a couple of long-term friends living near Sanlitun, but over the last 18 months they seem to have faded away...

So, anyone have any ideas other than 'a hotel' for a place to live for a month in Beijing, that does not involve an hour on the bus/train each morning and afternoon?
