Dear All,
I'm going for my short break to Jakarta and I'm wondering if someone could help me where I could find the old book stores for getting the 1st edition English book or stamps collections.
This is for my dear friend and I really want to get this items as my way to thanking all the efforts he's been doing to help me.
I appreciate all the advice...thank you.

I'm in Jakarta and as with a lot of things here you often stumble across them by accident. What do you mean exactly by "the old book stores"? Any specific name? I might be able to help with a bit more detail.

Dear GreenValleys,
Thanks for the reply and I'm back in Hong Kong now. I got what I want, the books and the stamps.. *_* I went to Senen area for the old books and went to Pasar Baru for getting the old stamps collections, it's worth it even have to bargain with the seller.
By the way, did you get my message in your inbox?
Take care and once again, thank you so much for your reply..

(Yes thanks, I did get your message. I've been travelling for a couple of weeks and I didn't make the connection when I saw this thread. I'll go back to the PM later today.)
Are you able to tell me which book shop you went to? We go across to Senen most Sundays as our church is located there. Toko Gunung Agung on Jalan Kwitang Raya is a big shop spread over 4 or 5 floors but nothing out of the ordinary. There is often a row of book stalls along the roadside near the corner of Jl Kwitang Raya and where Jl Kramat Raya becomes Jl Gunung Sahari but they appear (I've never asked the driver to stop the car to check them out) to be illegal photocopies of school text books more than anything else. As a book lover I'd be interested in any leads because, as I said before, you often don't know of a place unless you stumble on it by accident - or you get a personal reference.

There's alot of small book shops near the bus terminal, of course you have to be extra careful when you roaming around that area and better asked local people to go there as they always think the foreigner are rich.. And the small shops from Kramat Raya moved to Senen market at the 4th Floor (but I didnt go there) just bargain near the bus terminal shops..
It's very limited options they have as I was searching for the very old English books but again, I feel so blessed cause I got 6 books from the 1st edition, 1955, 1957... *_*
Thanks and you should go there one day to see what around that area.
