Recommendations..Western Australia

Hi All

My hubby and I will be spending xmas and new years in the Western Australia. We will be jetting off to Perth..planning to spend a couple of days there, spend xmas in Alice Springs/Ayers rock resort and we are still undecided about the rest of the trip. We are childless couple in our late 30's.>We love beach bars, parties, clubbing, wine, foods and outdoor activities like hiking. I would welcome suggestions from the viewers. We only have 16 days in total and we're planning to hire a car drive around and fly from Perth to Alice Springs.

Make sure you take in to account the very long distances. 16 days does not give you a lot of time to cover ground......I am from Perth - so can recommend that you spend some time going down south - the whole south west corner is great - fabulous beaches and also great bushwalking. There is also really nice accommodation - varies between luxury to backpackers. Bunbury is the biggest south west centre, but more popular tourist destinations are Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River. Loads of wineries in the SW - great to visit. Again, be aware of the distances you will have to travel. Busselton is about 2 and a half to 3 hrs drive from Perth - 250kms. Another 45 mins to Margaret River and some of the great forests and beaches are further down than that. Make sure you get a good deal on car hire as the limited kms can cause a great deal of expense! Having said that, of course it is so much better to have your own wheels - difficult if you don't in fact!
