hi
I am from New Delhi. Its a centre place, from where you have loads of options to chose from.
In New Delhi, you may visit KUTUB MINAR (Historic place), LAL QUILA (Red Fort), ZOO, for Shopping you may go to Cannaught Place, Sarojini Nagar, South Extention etc.
You must visit to Taj Mahal (onw of seven wonders of the world) located in "AGRA". For going there, you may chose to go by Train from New Delhi Railway Station of take a cab.
You may also go to Jaipur (comprising beautiful forts), again you have option of taking cab or train.
You may also go to SHIMLA and KULLU MANALI, those are bit cold and from there you may go ahead to ROHTANG to see hills covered with snow. Best mode for reaching there is by Private Buses, quite comfortable and economical.
Pls let me know if you have any specific query.

Delhi reminds me of Rome with many archeological ruins strewn across the city, some preserved, some dilapidated - a reminder of powerful empires and their monuments of glory.
Neemrana Fort Hotel is beautiful. Built in the 14th century it is about 100 km from Delhi. http://www.neemranahotels.com/neemrana/index.html.htm
Bharatpur bird and wildlife sanctuary is good for a day trip too. I went all the way down to Ranthambhore to see the tigers, which is a once in a lifetime experience.
In Delhi itself there are a number of places to visit - Dilli Haat for handicrafts from different states that changes every month; Santushti - upmarket shopping set up by army person's wives; Hauz Khas for great restaurants and bars; recently Gurgaon has established itself as a terrific shopping district and if you aren't tired shopping there are is all the sight-seeing as mentioned above. For me personally, visiting Delhi is an overall experience. Just need to choose a good weather to visit and not in the middle of summers

Yes... Delhi is beautiful in Winters. Summers and Rain would not be too much fun.
There are three world heritage sites in Delhi: Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. Apart from which Jama Masjid is another must do. Tourists also like Chadini Chowk for the old world feeling and some shopping.
There are state emporiums around Janpat / CP which are a good place to pick up authentic stuff, though a bit expensive.

"bukhara" at ITC sheraton is a award winning restaurant. karim's near jama masjid; kernel kabbab (am not sure of the spelling) at defence colony at moolchand parathas are some really good local food places.
delhi is a gourmet's delight... almost anything you try would be good.

Hi,
Being a Delhiite , I cannot stay quiet.
My ranking of the top 10 places/do's/eats in Delhi
1) Lutyens City - Presidents house, India Gate, North and South blocks and surrounding areas built by Edward Lutyen during the Raj.
2) Old City - Red Fort, Chandni Chowk (erstwhile Mughal residency)
3) Temples - Akshardham (hindu) temple, Lotus (Bahai) temple, St Josephs Church, Jama Masjid (Mosque), Buddhist Monastery (Tibetan)
4) Food - Delhi style (@Haldirams), South Indian (Sarvana Bhavan @ Connnaught Place), Mughal/Frontier Cuisine (Bukhara-5 star, Karim-street but good,Nizam)
5) Shopping - Emporia@con place, dilli haat, Jewellery (Zaveri@ Con place)
6) Local travel - Take a bus tour to cover the city and then explore the parts you like best.Radio cabs are the best mode for tourists.
7) Language - everyone understands english, if ever in doubt, enter the most decent looking resto/shop and everyone will be helpful. This is better than asking people on the street as some of them will be touts esp in touristy areas.
8) Nightlife - not much to offer. Bar hopping suggestions are either M-Block, Greater Kailash or bars in any 5 star.
9) Its home, so everything about is good..
10) Too many things, thoughts getting jumbled......

If you need a guide I'd recommend Davinder Singh - he's very knowledgeable and professional and came recommended by the concierge at the Imperial. Tel: 09810071466.
If you need an agent to handle domestic travel I'd recommend Mr Dewan - extremely helpful and prompt - Tel: 9810 546 004
