Laguna Phuket: best accommodation

Planning to go to Laguna Phuket for a week. We stayed at the Allamanda 10 years ago and loved it. However, I have been reading some horrific reviews of the place online. Seems to have gone downhill. Any opinions, anyone? Also, has anyone stayed at the Laguna Beach Resort? Feedback much appreciated.

I stayed last year at the Laguna Beach Resort and was happy with the seaview room we had with a small balcony with table and couple of chairs. Loved the area, particularly since you can walk down the beach and eat great thai food at the local restaurants rather paying the high end price in the hotel. My only comment I would say was having spent a number of holidays in Asia, the buffet breakfast was disappointing, not the usual arrange of curries, dim sum, fish etc etc. but there was an egg chef and the other standard fare.

If you have children, the helter skelter slide amused my 2 children for 7 days! plus the kids activities such as walking on water, water polo and aqua aerobics were good as was seeing the elephants around the resort.

I don't know if you are travelling with children and of what age they are but if you are interested in some of things we did with my two then let me know. I can also send you details of a fab beach front restaurant there.
