egypt for christmas

decided on egypt for christmas. we are open to the nile cruise (oberoi) but not sure about being stuck on the boat for 5 days. what are some of the great itineraries? we have about 8 days. if we have to choose three cities: cairo and luxor are "musts". should the third on be aswan or alexandria? is it realistic to do all 4 cities in 8 days?
