advice from travellers needed...

I was thinking if travellers would find this service helpful. My idea is to lease ipads (with internet access) to tourists to help them get around, find the best restaurants, find the best deals etc... The ipad would be installed with the most popular apps (including paid ones) and more importantly would include insights from locals on popular topics like shopping for electronics, hiking in Hong Kong, getting to Shenzhen etc... Do you think this service would add value?

The deposit you would need & the checking for damage would be a "Financial Killer" & I doubt that many tourists would stump up the deposit + ongoing charges.

I was able to do something similar several years ago when a visiting New York Professor needed a computer - I sold him the computer - and agreed to take it back at a reduced price after the 2 weeks he needed it - subject to "No Damage" inspection.

That suited us both.
