hi. sanya's more like a tropical paradise. has great weather and lots of nice beaches (especially the ones along yalung bay). if you love the beach, then sanya's the right place for you.

if you're going there, try and also visit "the end of the earth".

stay at the Sheraton Sanya - fantastic hotel, by the beach and with great pools.

there will be a bit of chill in january though

best time is March through May and Oct/Nov.

We were there during Chinese NY and it was fine for swimming, not chilly at all.

What was the water temperature? I'm thinking of going during the CNY but I'm afraid to say if the water is cooler than 26/27 it would be too cold for me.

Was there last month and the water temp was fine. Water is still shallow until 50 meters out so it is perfect for non swimmers too.
