laser for upper lip
Posted by breeze (312 days ago)
I am seriously considering laser for upper lip and chin area. Although , its a need more than a luxury, few of my friends have scared me off with the scars or marks that could be left behind,in case.
Anybody who has undergone this or have any idea as to what are the risks involved?
Thanks!!!

I had a few upper lips laser session in Paris and it worked wonders (dark hair / fair skin). I will definitely have a couple more session to finish the job (almost 70% gone, i'd say, already)
Only precaution (advised by the dermatologist who uses the laser) : no sun tan before (or will burn skin as laser is sensitive to melanine) no hai bleach before (wouldn't be catched by laser as melanine is destroyed). *
Very important, go for maximal UV protection for at least 6 weeks on parts exposed to laser, whatever your skin condition.
If you are under medication (such as roacutane), you should ask doctor / dermatologist for their advice before, to avoid photo sensitivity.
Last, I usually apply after sun lotion (such as Biafine or Roc after sun for sensitive skin) just after having the laser treatment, to minimuze redness.

I think IPL is safer than laser. No scarring, marks, side effects or whatsoever. Its been 2 yrs i did IPL for upper lip and chin. I am still over the moon with the result. did my treatments from Beaute Par zai, call them they might be having promotions. Number:25241272

thanks for the replies,
I am also in for upper lip and chin hair removal..
How many sessions it takes for the upper lip and chin? Also should I understand that there is no growth at all after that?
Snowy rachel, thanks for the number but I have a dermes disount coupon, so might as well go in there tommrow. Now after you have posted the number am also planning to get a second opinion from Beaute par Zai. Where excatly they are located?
Will go in tommow for my consulatation..
Mayita , are you planning to go in for your sessions here in Hong kong?

Breeze, i am not sure about other people, it all depends on your growth. It was good enough for me so it worked. Best is to consult with them first. They are in 21 Stanley Street, Queen's Place, 9/F Central.

IPL is the safer option. Try the Beautiful Skin Centre in Pacific Place. They have a medical grade machine that is excellent. 2877 8911.

Sorry Breeze, did'nt check the thread
I had already 4 sessions, not as regular as i should (to "catch"' the growing hairs - which are the one that are actually "killed" - catagenical phasis - you have to go back when the hair start regrowing and not wait for monthes until you have time, as i did).
Never got any scare from laser treatment, but as previously said, always put IPF40 to 60 sunscreen on it (well except in winter France, of course). The inly scares i ever had (on my legs) were the result of ingrows after waxing !
I guess that even with IPL you should be using sunscreen, anyway....
Did all my treatments in Paris, France, at a registered Dematologist's (the only one who are allowed to manipulate real medical lasers)
Wanted to finish it in HK, but the price is much more expensive than in Paris -even though only maniipulated by a esthetician and not a Doctor,as in my hometown, so will go on blooking my appointments in Paris...
Honestly the single 4 courses + 1 year touch up in Dermes for half legs was the exact same price as the treatment i had in Paris for :
- underarms
- face (upper lip / eyebrows)
- whole legs
- bikini
- toe (i cannot believe HK bills to take off the 2 hairs i have on the bigger toe : in France they include it in the "leg" price)
