Applying for DH work visa - exit Macau or Phillipines

Posted by Rachaell (793 days ago)

We are applying for a work for visa for a great DH we have found who is terminating her contract with her previous employer for personal reasons. Is it any quicker to get the work visa if she exits to Macau rather than Phillipines....any advice on how we could expedite the process gratefully received..

The work visa won't be done any quicker if she goes to Macau. Also I have heard that Immigration is clamping down on "quick exits" via Macau for helpers.

You can politely call Immigration once or twice and ask for your application to be expedited, and explain why. This sometimes helps.

Sorry axpatguy, I disagree about calling Immigraion.
In order to truly get an expedited visa, you need to submit a letter stating why it is necessary and until you get the case number from immigration after a couple of weeks, they will not be able to refer to your case anyway of you simply call. Using the "case number"given to you and going in person after that is the best way. If you have compelling reasons you will have a quicker visa. BUT they need to be good reasons ie need to travel out of HK, a medical probelm (with a Drs. letter) no family support available etc.
I know for a fact that Immigration will help those who are truly in need, in fact my daughter's best friend got her visa in 24 days b/c her helper left without notice and she has to travel for work, plus she is a single parent. HK Immigation officers are a cut above the rest of the world in terms of willingness to help and curteous manner.

Thanks all we have twins and 5 dogs so I think we can certainly say we tick the box for needing help. I think we have to use an agency if our helper is terminated, if anyone has a recommendation please PM me. Thks again.

Correct. If the new helper was terminated, you need an agency. I recommend AsiaXpat agency.
