If it were Trump I'd say this is a cheap publicity stunt, but Al Waleed does not seem like that type of a guy. Guessing it is more of his hope to create a massive status symbol - but I'm not sure if the engineering tech is capable yet to build that tall.
It'd be cool but likely hugely loss making.
