Styrofoam on windows during renovation???

so...my building is undergoing renovation work outside and they have thrown up scaffolding and the ugly netting. This I can accept as we knew in advance and also it is common practice.
HOWEVER, they have now glued styrofoam on ALL windows in our apartment. We now live in a cave with no natural light from outside. This is unacceptable and I have never ever seen this before.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? What are my options here? I cannot live like this.

Besides to avoid falling debris, also to avoid theft climbing to your home easily……... you are right, this is the common practice in here.
