Im looking for a loft style apartment to rent, preferably HK side, up to 30 HKD. Dont mind doing renovations or decorations. Anyone know where I could find such a place?

Alexandra, you mean you're willing to rent at HK$30 per square foot or HK$30,000 per month. If it's the latter, you may get an 800 square foot place HK side if you are lucky. There aren't any loft apartments in HK unless you're talking about renting in an industrial building. This is not allowed. However, if the management doesn't care you may be able to find something in Siu Sai Wan. Not sure how much they rent for.

I know someone using space near Tai Kok Tsui - 7 minutes train journey from HK station, and it is far cheaper than that.
They use it as "factory space", but have a bedroom for a "night watch man." I am not sure how legal it is to stay overnight, but as far as I have heard - no one complains when they do so.
TKT is an undiscovered gem of an area for this - but it means journeying over to "the dark side" which is what narrow-focus HK people call Kowloon Peninsula.

OffThePeak, any idea of pricing and/or psf for that space?
Commercial space up to a certain size tends to be more expensive psf than residential, so I'm not sure if it's cost effective to do that in Hong Kong.

I am talking about less that 2,000 sf in an Industrial Building, that was rented maybe two years ago at $7 psf. The price would be higher today, and there are the issues about how the space can be used.
