Hi there - I am an American expat working for Ernst Young at the IFC building in Hong Kong. I started apartment hunting a couple of days ago and my budget was $10K; however for that price you get something in a really old building or really small. I looked at the horizon suites hotel in Kowloon, the two bedroom over there is going for $14K after the $500 discount for the 1 year lease, the 1 bedroom is going for $13.5K. I am thinking about going for the 2 bedroom and finding a decent flatmate to share the place with. The rent does not include maid service or electricity; my boss lives there and his electricity on average is less than $500 a month, last month it was $186 for him. Internet is not included but there is free internet on the bottom of the concierge available to all tenants. Here is a link to the place, I looked at the place yesterday and it exactly as the pics, nice and clean. It is just like living in a hotel and there is also free shuttle buses to the nearest MTR stations running every 10 minutes. I'm thinking on average after the electrcity we can split the place at $6-8K a piece and live very comfortably/luxuriously, I need to move in there by December 1st. http://www.horizonhotels.com.hk/en/harbourview/index.html By the way the place is big enough to have three people in there, if your spouse/partner/gf want to share 1 of the bedrooms and if that helps you with the rent I am fine with that. The more the merrier - instead of spending money on housing I'd rather spend it on going out and enjoying. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks Ed |
