Here are five ways to discover the festival.
1. Start with a night of piano and strings — 12 October
Ilya Rashkovskiy, Giuseppe Andaloro and the LOGOS Chamber Group open the festival with a programme spanning solo piano, piano duets and chamber music. Rachmaninov’s complete Études-tableaux, Op. 39, lead into music by Shostakovich, Ravel and Ligeti, before Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet brings piano and strings together. It is an opening night for listeners who enjoy both the intimacy of a solo recital and the energy of musicians sharing a stage.
2. Hear Pascal Rogé and Elena Font at two pianos — 14 October
Debussy’s La Mer and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring take on a different perspective at two pianos. Pascal Rogé and Elena Font explore these vividly contrasting musical worlds, alongside Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. Rogé also joins the LOGOS Chamber Group for Fauré’s Piano Quintet No. 1. From shifting colours to powerful rhythms, this is an evening with plenty to discover.
3. A night of guitar and piano — 16 October
Álvaro Pierri brings a programme ranging from Piazzolla and Albéniz to Barrios and Ginastera to the City Hall Theatre. Pianist Giuseppe Andaloro joins Pierri for Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Fantasía for guitar and piano. Whether you already love classical guitar or are curious to hear its expressive range in person, this is a chance to enjoy it at the centre of the programme.
4. Find another evening that speaks to you — 13, 15 and 17 October
Giuseppe Andaloro’s 13 October programme moves between Bach, Ravel, Kapustin and his arrangements of music by Emerson, Lake & Palmer and King Crimson, followed by Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 2 with LOGOS. On 15 October, Jonas Stark performs Schumann and Schubert, joining Michael Brooks Reid and Pierre Doumenge for Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 1. Alexander Doronin’s 17 October concert pairs Bach and Shostakovich with Brahms’s Piano Quintet, performed with LOGOS.
5. Travel through Spain in sound with Honggi Kim — 18 October
The festival closes with Honggi Kim performing all four books of Albéniz’s Iberia. These twelve piano pieces evoke places, dances and moods associated with Spain, offering a richly varied journey across a complete recital. For piano lovers, it is an opportunity to hear the whole cycle in one evening.
