The carving of wooden figures has a long tradition in Thailand, here is a beautiful Thai woman statue in wai greeting pose (a symbol of respect and gratitude in Thai culture), it is a calm and peaceful standalone decorative item and a great gift idea.
The statue was hand carved from a single block of wood, height ~48 cm, shoulder ~7.5 cm wide. I bought it from Thailand in the 1980s and have added a 21cm diameter wooden base to increase the statue’s stability and magnify its visual interest. Has been well kept in a smoke and pet free family, excellent condition.
