A Ceremony of Harp & Carols

Celebrate the festive season this December in the joy, warmth and magic of music! Joined by Principal Harp of the Vienna Philharmonic Anneleen Lenaerts and Hong Kong’s premier chamber choir NOĒMA, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Music Director Christoph Poppen will present an unforgettable evening of harp, choral and orchestral music which perfectly encapsulates the sacred spirit of Christmas. Starting with Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols – a brilliantly conceived work both jubilant and comforting, set in medieval texts for choir and harp – the concert will continue with Glière’s exquisite Harp Concerto which showcases all the defining qualities of the instrument: its ethereal aura, timbral luminosity and pure elegance. To conclude the concert, the orchestra, choir and four distinguished soloists will present C P E Bach’s Magnificat, a large-scale setting of the biblical song proclaiming God’s greatness, mercy and strength, bringing the evening to a transcendent conclusion.
